Students hold protest, demand postponement of exams

DODA, May 17: Demanding postponement of exams, the students held protest here today.
After boycotting classes, large number of first year students (IInd semester) of Government Degree College assembled outside college premises and held protest under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Later, the protesters marched towards DC Office and raised slogans in favour of their demands. They also blocked the vehicular movement by burning tyres on the road.
While addressing the protestors outside DC Office, College Working Member ABVP, Rajeshwar Singh and senior member ABVP District Doda Arslan Mir said that Jammu University is doing injustice with the students of Chenab Valley.
Due to unfavorable weather conditions, the classes of second semester started from March and only 40 per cent of the total syllabus has been completed till now, they said and demanded postponement of exams, which are going to start from May 24.
Later, the protesting students held negotiations with ADC and College Principal. ADC assured the students that their demands will be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
