JAMMU, Feb 26: A live video conference between students of KC Public School and Skipton Girls’ High School, UK, took place under the aegis of the British Council’s International School Awards (ISA) programme recently. KCPS and SGHS UK are long-term partner schools and students of KCPS have already visited SGHS on a students’ exchange programme in 2016.
The live video conference between students dealt with the theme of water management at global level. Students of both schools had already conducted in-depth studies, particularly on waste water management in their own countries as well as in other countries in Africa, Asia and Americas.
KCPS students spoke mainly on water management in India with special reference to pollution of water resources and the dire need for evolving an effective system to ensure supply of safe and healthy drinking water.
SGHS students informed them about effective water management in their own country and availability of clean drinking water through public distribution system. They also shared information on critical water-related problems in Burkina Faso in West Africa and Last Vegas in the United States.
Students of both schools raised a number of probing questions on the issue and underscored the need for effective management of water on the planet.
The live conference lasted about an hour and concluded with summing up by James Hoyle, Deputy Head Teacher of SGHS, who suggested more of similar conferences between students of KCPS and SGHS in the future.
