JAMMU, Sept 5: In the Governing Body meeting of Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, approval was accorded to 11 students of the college to participate in the national level biennial conference being organised by the Student Nurses Association of India at Guntur in Andhra Pradesh from November 29 to December 3, 2017. These students will also interact with other members of the Trained Nurses Association of India during this conference.
Theme of the conference is ’empowering nurses through advanced technology’ and the competitions to be organised during it include paper presentation, debate, quiz and essay competition, poster presentation, on-spot painting competition, sports and personality development.
The Governing Body meeting held under the chairmanship of Maj Gen S K Sharma (Retd), Member, Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body; was attended by Dr. M. K. Bhandari, Divisional Commis-sioner, Jammu; Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr. V. Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board; Dr. (Brig) M. M. Harjai, Administrator; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College.
The Governing Body also finalised the modalities for organising Inter-College Competition by SMVDCoN for the students of various nursing colleges of the State which is scheduled to be held in March 2018. The events to be organised in this 2-day event will include debate, quiz and on the spot poster competition, sports and cultural programmes.
The meeting held detailed discussions in regard to finalising the arrangements for the second Lamp Lighting Ceremony and celebrating the Annual Day of the College of Nursing scheduled to be held next month.
