Sub Jr NZ Sport Climbing Championship in Sept

JAMMU, July 22: The 1st Sub-Junior North Zone Sport Climbing Championship for boys and girls will be conducted by Mountaineering Association of J&K from September 20 to September 22, 2013 at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here.
About 200 climbers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh,Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand besides the host J&K are expected to participate in the 3-day championship.
Since it is a Sub Junior Zonal Championship, only those climbers, both boys and girls, born in 2000 and after are eligible to compete in the competitions which will be conducted only in Lead climbing.
The competitions would be conducted as per IFSC rules and only fresh international standard climbing equipment will be used.
To encourage small children to participate and win medals in the competition the Association has also carved out “mini boys & girls” category born in 2002 and after out of the Sub Junior category. The winners of this category will also be awarded Mini Champion’s Trophy”(for the champion state) and  medals and cash prizes for the individual winners.
The championship carries total prize money of Rs 21000.
The Association has already formed committees for making elaborate boarding, lodging and transport arrangements for the comfortable stay of the participants and officials and also a visit to Indo-Pak border at Suchetgarh to make it really a memorable event.
The Championship is being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
