Subsidy to big business houses at cost of poor: Rajnath

LUCKNOW, Jan 22:
Castigating the UPA government at the Centre for wrong economic policies, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajnath Singh today said the subsidy for the poor was being withdrawn but the big businessmen were getting benefits.
The subsidy to poor and the middle class was being curtailed but the big business houses were getting more and more benefits, he told UNI here. The subsidy of Rs one-two lakh crore to poor had been denied but the subsidy to big ones had reached to Rs five lakh crore, he pointed out.
Mr Singh said the wrong economic policies of the UPA had resulted in burgeoning deficit to the exchequer and the foreign investment was decreasing.
The senior BJP leader said during the Atal Behari Vajpayee-led NDA government, the growth rate of the country was more than the inflation rate but now the situation has reversed during Manmohan Singh government.
The people of the country were now looking up to the BJP for their overall progress and development, he claimed adding his party would enter the Lok Sabha polls with an aim to get at least 200 seats which looked practical given the dismal performance of the UPA.
In reply to a question, Mr Singh said that the re-entry of former UP chief minister Kalayan Singh would strengthen the party in the state and positive results would be visible in the next Lok Sabha polls.
