Successful removal of 1.47 kg tumour in Police Hospital

SRINAGAR, Oct 12: A team of doctors of Police Hospital Srinagar, comprising of Dr Irshad Ahmed Kuchey, Dr Nahid (Gynaecologist), Dr Baljeet (Anaesthesia) and other team members successfully removed 1.47 kg benign tumour from the uterus of female patient Laproscopically, today. This was the first surgery of its kind performed by the doctors in the hospital.
Giving the details about the successful surgery, Medical Superintendent, Police Hospital, Dr Foziya Habib, said, “The surgery was performed on patient from Kupwara suffering from tumour of uterus. She said that earlier the doctors of the Hospital had performed several successful advanced laparoscopic surgeries on patients suffering from various diseases. It was a milestone achievement in the history of Police Hospital considering the size of tumour”.
Dr Foziya said that various other successful surgeries including Hepaticojejunostomy, open Prostatectomy, Hepatic Hydatid Cystectomy, total gastrectomy and advanced laparoscopic surgeries are being done in the Hospital and now the doctors are focusing to achieve successes in other fields. He lauded the dedication and expertise of Dr Irshad and Dr Nahid and the team of para-medics, whose efforts have brought laurels for the Hospital.
The Director General of Police, K Rajendra Kumar, expressed hope that the able doctors of Police Hospitals would continue their efforts to make successes in the field of medical science.
The ADGP (Headquarters), SP Vaid, also visited the Hospital enquired from the patient about her welfare.
