JAMMU, May 28: Former Minister and Chairman, Panchayati Raj Cell, BJP JKUT, Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary today criticized the step motherly attitude of the UT administration towards the people residing in rural areas.
In a press statement here, today he showed strong resentment against recent order of the Government in which administration directed to repair all damaged transformers within eight hour in urban areas and in 48 hours in rural areas. He took strong exception to the order and asked the administration that why this kind of partiality with rural people. Do the urban citizens need more electricity than rural people where near about 72% of the total population resides, he asked?.
At present there is dire requirement of electricity in rural areas as the paddy sowing season is about to start, he said, adding if administration can repair transformers within eight hours for urban areas why it takes 48 hours for rural areas. Are they not human, or the administration thinks that urban people are super humans, he added.
Sukhnandan warned that such kind of attitude toward border belt people will not be tolerated at any cost.
Further he also put question mark on the vaccination drive which is going on for 18 to 45 years category. He said administration has set May 28 as vaccination day for registered construction workers, Why can’t farming community of villages be treated as workers who work hard in this tough time when the second wave of COVID-19 is at its peak. They were denied vaccination at vaccination centers also, he added.
The BJP leader warned the administration not to play with the sentiments of farming community who work hard in fields so that food grains can be provided to the whole nation.
Instead of denying vaccination to farming community Government should arrange to provide them vaccination at door step.
He once again appealed the UT administration to treat the rural population at par with urban people and provide the equal opportunities to both.
