Sumit bags Ist place in light vocal (solo) competition

Artist being keenly listened and watched during JU’s Display Your Talent in Jammu. -Excelsior/Rakesh

JAMMU, Oct 2: In Light Vocal (Solo) Competition, Sumit Kumar from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, fetched the First Prize in the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental “Display Your Talent” 2013-14  conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, here.
The second prize was shared by Aproova Jamwal from Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Chaman Lal from Shri Vaishno Devi College of Education whereas the third prize also was shared by Sargam Sharma from Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and Diksha Kumari from Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The lonely Certificate of Merit was awarded to Anjusha B Sharma from Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The participants presented Dogri, Punjabi and Hindi Geet, besides Ghazals and Folk Songs.
Nand Kishore Pal, Jatinder Singh & Balbir Chand Beera were the adjudicators for the said event.
Prof. Kuldeep. K. Sharma, Head, Department of Zoology, was the chief guest on this occasion and distributed the prizes amongst the winners.
The competition was conducted under the supervision of Dr Sunita Sharma, Department of Economics, the Teacher Incharge, of the Light Vocal (Solo) event.
The programme was compeered by Aneey Mattoo, joint secretary, Students Cultural Council.
Among others Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, Prof J S Tara, Director, Poonch Campus, Teacher Inchrages from the various colleges and students, were also present.
The event was managed and supervised by S. Gurpal Singh, Kulbhushan Thakur, Balwant Singh Slathia, Surinder Singh, R.P.Singh, Joginder Singh, Arun Kumar Ram Pal and Yash Pal.
