JAMMU, May 7: Sumitpal Singh and Prinkle Singh of Jammu and Kashmir qualified for the quarterfinals of the Hotel Ravine All India Ranking Super Series Tennis Tournament at Sydney Point, Wai Panchgani in Maharashtra.
Sumitpal is top seed of the tournament and in his first round he defeated Amit Beniwal of Delhi by (6 – 2, 6 – 1) and in pre quarter-final,he drubbed Kaivalyk of Naidad Maharashtra by (6 – 1, 6 – 2) to sail into the quarter-final which will be held tomorrow morning at 10 am.
In doubles, Sumitpal is being partnered by Kabir Manrai of Chandigarh and the duo got bye in first round and will play quarter-final tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Prinkle Singh also reached quarterfinals today by defeating Neha of Maharashtra by (6 – 1, 6 – 2) in straight sets and in her first round Prinkle Singh defeated Richa of Maharashtra by (9 – 1).
