RAJOURI, May 2: Sumo operators at Thannamandi today held protest demonstration against Police authorities for allegedly harassing them and observed strike.
The operators of Sumos and even mini-buses kept their vehicles off the road and went on strike against alleged police harassment. They alleged that many SPOs and others were harassing them on various pretexts and demanding money. They alleged that they are also paying for Adda Parchi while people in `Khaki’ were also demanding undue money from them and in case non-payment, the operators are being harassed.
Later, Tehsildar Thannamandi Rafiq Mughal reached the spot and listened to their woes. Then he talked to SHO and SDPO Thannamandi. On the assurance of tehsildar, then the operators called off strike in the afternoon.
