JAMMU, Jan 17: Sunderbani Cricket Club defeated Cantonment Cricket Club with three wickets and sailed into semi-finals round in the ongoing Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass Memorials Cricket Tournament, being played at Govt Higher Secondary School Akhnoor, here today.
Cantonment CC won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Cantonment CC scored 68 runs by losing all wickets in 16.3 overs. Abhinav Puri made 15 runs, wheras Rakesh Baba, Raj Kumar contributed 18 and 10 runs respectively. From bowling side, Abishek got three wickets while Arif and Ragav shared two wickets each and Micky and Ashutosh clinched one wicket each.
In reply, Sunderbani CC achieved the target in just six overs with four balls left from the stipulated 20 overs by losing seven wickets and won the match by three wickets. Rohit Sharma made 17 runs, while Micky and Rajesh contributed 26 and 10 runs respectively. From bowling side, Vijay Dogra got five wickets, whereas Akash Choudhary bagged two wickets. Man of the match was awarded to Micky for his best performance, whereas Dayal Singh & Vikas Bali were umpires and Rohit & Sushil Gupta were acted as scorers.
Dr Romesh Kashyap (vice chairman Akhnoor Sports Club) was the chief guest while Krishan Lal & Deepak Mani were guests of honour.
The tournament is being organized by Akhnoor Sports Club under the overall supervision of Kr Sham Singh Langeh (Gen Secy District Jammu JKCA) and Vishnu Kant Sharma (chairman Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament).
