KISHTWAR, July 9: Minister of State for Transport, PWD (R&B), Revenue RDD, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture Production and Youth Services and Sports, Sunil Kumar Sharma today inaugurated ‘Kishtwar Premier League’, a district level cricket tournament at Chowgan here.
Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar G N Balwan, SSP Sandeep Wazir, District Youth Sports Services Officer Dewan Chand, DySP DAR, Manoj Kumar and people in large number were present on the occasion.
About 32 teams are participating in the tournament organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that sports is the best media to channelize the energy of the youth in positive direction and besides developing their personalities which fosters the bond of amity and harmony.
He said that our sportspersons have the potential to prove their talent on national and international platforms and the Government is taking adequate steps to nurture their talent by providing the required facilities. He exhorted upon the youth to put in dedicated efforts to achieve laurels for the State in the field of sports.
Sharma also stated that the land for the construction of sports stadium Kishtwar has been identified and the project is expected to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore.
Minister said that Kishtwar is known for its communal harmony and unity and appealed the people to strengthen this bond of amity.
He said that the Government is making concerted efforts to take the State forward on the path of development, peace and prosperity and public partaking is vital for strengthening the initiative of Government.
