UDHAMPUR, Feb 10: Kabaddi tournament organized by Amateur Kabaddi Association, concluded at mini stadium Udhampur, today.
Minister of state for Transport (Independent charge), Revenue, Public Works (Road & Buildings) Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Agriculture Production, Youth Services and Sports Sunil Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Rayees Bhat, ASP, Faisal Qureshi, President J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Anil Gupta Officials of District Youth Services and Sports department, Udhampur and representatives of District Amateur Kabaddi Association Udhampur besides prominent citizens, players of different clubs were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the organizers for organizing this tournament and said that such events provide a platform to the sportspersons to hone their talent and skill. He said that sports help youth to channelize their energy in a positive way.
“Sports and games play an important role in maintaining a healthy balance between body, mind and soul.” he added. He also announced Rs 10 lakhs for improvement and repair of changing room in the stadium.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by the Chief Organizer District Amateur Kabaddi Association, Udhampur Sheikh Tanveer who outlined the objectives behind organizing the event. He informed that around 200 participants and over 20 teams from various governments as well as private educational institutions besides different 7 clubs of Udhampur district participated in this U-19 Kabaddi tournament for Boys.
District Coaching Club (DCC) Udhampur emerged as the winner while Happy Model Higher Secondary School, Udhampur was awarded with fair play trophy. Later, the Minister distributed trophies among the Winner & Runner up teams.
