MENDHAR, June 28: Mendhar Super Star Cricket Club won J&K Police T20 Cricket Tournament today by defeating J&K Police by 8 wickets at OP Hill Stadium, here today.
The 10 days long tournament was organized by J&K Police with an objective of harnessing the talent of youth in sports, under Civic Action Programme.
Chief guest SSP Poonch, Shahmeer Hussain, distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams, besides man of the match and man of the series awards.
Daily Excelsior Correspondent Mendhar in Poonch, M S Nazki was awarded for best media coverage. SSP while speaking on the occasion said that J&K Police will leave no stone unturned to provide a platform to the youth of this State in sports and cultural activities by organizing different sports and cultural events, while SDM Mendhar Ramesh Kumar in his address said that in the coming days J&K Police would organize more sports events in different parts of the District in Cricket and Volleyball.
In the final match, Mendhar Super Star Cricket Club defeated Uchhad Cricket Club to win the title. Irfan Khan was declared man of the match for scoring 65 runs.
