SRINAGAR, Aug 27: Surya Risers and Kanwal Tigers registered emphatic wins over their rivals in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL), here today.
Surya Risers defeated Cemtac Stars in a close contest by 6 runs.
Batting first, Surya Risers scored 142 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Pranav Gupta top scored with 45 runs off 46 balls, while Ashwani Bhat, Shubam Khajuria and Inderjeet Singh contributed 24, 22 and 18 runs to the total respectively. For Cemtac Stars, Amir Farooq, Owais and Imtiyaz Malla took 2 wickets each, while Waseem Raja claimed one.
In reply, Cemtac Stars managed to scored 136 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 6 runs. Inderjeet Singh and Rompy Sharma took 2 wickets each, while Nitin Mehra claimed one. Pranav Gupta was adjudged HDFC man of the match.
In another match, Kanwal Tigers defeated Simula Bulls by 24 runs.
Batting first, Kanwal Tigers scored a mammoth total of 190 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 5 wickets. Ishtiaq Ahmed scored swashbuckling 86 runs off 47 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 sixes, while Amir Sofi and Hanan Mir contributed 50 and 23 runs tot the total respectively. Sameer Khajuria and Mayank Gautam bagged 2 wickets each for Simula Bulls, while Amandeep Singh claimed one.
In reply, Simula Bulls managed to score 166 runs in the allotted overs by losing 6 wickets, thus lost the match by 24 runs. Shashi Kumar was the top scorer with unbeaten 70 runs off 56 balls, studded with 9 boundaries and one six, while Dhruv Mhajan and Sameer Khajuria contributed 33 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Majid and Irfan Ahmed took 2 wickets each, while Aqib Nazira and Amir Sofi bagged one wicket each. Ishtiaq was declared HDFC man of the match.
