POONCH, Nov 17: In order to generate awareness among the people and to motivate the electorate to exercise their constitutional right to vote, a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign was organized today at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Mandi, where in more than 1500 students from various educational Institutions participated.
Dr. Zakir Hussain Nodal Officer SVEEP Poonch, Tehsildar Mandi, BDO, CDPO, BMO and District Level SVEEP Team Members Dr. Shamim Banday, Haroon Rashid, Anwar Khan, Nazarat Fareed, Dr. Yogesh, and Principal HSS Boys Mandi spoke on the occasion.
Dr Zakir Hussain spoke at length about the role of SVEEP in educating and motivating the electorate to exercise their right to vote. He said greater participation is key to stronger democracy and the main aim is to motivate voters so as to increase voter turnout and one of the best way of this is to educate and aware students who will become our most effective messengers.
Later, students rally was taken in this regard from Govt HSS Boys Mandi to Shri Budhha Amarnath Shrine besides students local residents, and Block level officers and officials of all departments participated in the rally which culminated with the vote of thanks by Nazarat Fareed.
