SVO raids FCS&CA Deptt, many booked

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: The State Vigilance Organization today conducted a joint surprise check at FCS&CA Department Chatha Jammu after receiving a complaint regarding embezzlement/ misappropriation of ration during the year 2014-15.
According to State Vigilance Organization,  during the probe, it transpired that on taking into account the receipt and issue of shortage of food grains against Ramesh Singh Jamwal, Junior Assistant Incharge Store keeper posted in Food Store Chatha of wheat 3324 Qtls and sugar 596 Qtls, against Tilak Singh, Senior Assistant, the then Supervisor/Storekeeper, Chatha Store of Rice APL-2229 Qtls, and Levy Sugar-138 Qtls, was detected.
It transpired that Akbar Ali and Dev Raj, the then Assistant Directors, Chatha Jammu in connivance with the store keepers had converted/diverted huge quantity of food grains from one category to another without sanction/approval from the competent authority in order to cause gains to themselves/storekeepers and corresponding loss to the State exchequer to the tune of Rs. 58.68 lakh.
The State Vigilance Organization further said that It has also been established during JSC, that the accused namely Akbar Ali and Dev Raj, the then Assistant Directors, Chatha by abusing their official position wilfully and intentionally closed their eyes in monitoring distribution/despatch of food grains as per despatch programme set by the Director CA&PD at the end of each month and submitted despatch statement of food grains commodity wise on monthly basis to Director CA&PD in order to facilitate the storekeepers for wrongful gains to themselves/storekeepers and wrongful loss to the State exchequer.
The aforesaid acts of omissions/commission on the part of accused persons of CA&PD Department namely Tilak Raj, Senior Assistant the then Supervisor/Store keeper Food Store Chatha, Ramesh Singh Jamwal the then Junior Asistant I/C Storekeeper Food Store Chatha, Sunil Sharma the then I/C Store Keeper, Food Store Chatha, Akbar Ali and Dev Raj the then Assistant Director Food Store Chatha and others, constituted offences punishable under Section 5 (1) (d) r/w section 5 (2) J&K P.C Act 2006 and 409, 120-B RPC.
Accordingly, case has been registered. After registration of the instant case (FIR no: 38/2017 PS VOJ) the teams of Vigilance Organization Jammu conducted simultaneous raids and house searches at different places at Jammu and recovered various incriminating documents pertaining to the instant case.
