SVO raids premises of SO

JAMMU, Mar 23: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) has raided the premises of Section Officer, Electric Department M&RE Sopore who was possessing the assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and has recovered jewelry worth lakhs of rupees,  many operative bank accounts in the name of accused and his family members and incriminating documents from his possession.
According to a vigilance spokesperson, the sleuths of Vigilance Organisation Kashmir early this morning conducted a raid in presence of Executive Magistrate at the residences of Nazir Ahmed Bhat Section Officer, Election Sub Division (M&RE) Sopore at Hard Shiva Sopore, Friends Colony Zainakote and Readymade Garments Shop Shalteng, Srinagar simultaneously.
During the searches the allegations against the SO were established as he was found possessing huge assets in the shape of two palatial residential houses at Hard Shiva and Friends Colony Zainakote, Srinagar, a Readymade Garment Shop at Shalteng Srinagar, a vehicle, jewelry worth lakhs of rupees and many operative bank accounts in the name of SO and his family members.
Besides the sleuths have also seized many incriminating documents having bearing on the case during the searches. They are being scrutinized, the spokesman added.
He said the investigation of the case is in progress.
The spokesman said a verification conducted by the Special Surveillance team headed by Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Organisation Kashmir into the allegations against the official revealed that the accused by indulging in corrupt practices raise huge assets in the shape of houses, shops etc. The facts thus disclosed during the verification constitute offence punishable u/s 5 (!) (e) r/w 5(2) P C Act 2006 against the accused and a case FIR NO 8/2014 P/S VOK was registered against him.
