JAMMU, Dec 9: The Swachh Bharat BIG Cricket League 2024 continued its gripping run on Day 6 at Jammu Sports Club Kot Tawa, combining thrilling cricket with a powerful message of cleanliness under the theme “Let’s Swing for Swachhta.”
The day’s proceedings were graced by Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, who praised the league for integrating social responsibility with sports. He said, “This tournament exemplifies how cricket can unite people and raise awareness about cleanliness, showcasing the power of sports for positive change.”
In the first match, Shaheed Bhagat Singh CC faced Infra Business. After winning the toss, Infra Business restricted Shaheed Bhagat Singh CC to 108 runs, with Amrit Pal Singh top-scoring with 23 runs. The standout performer was Amir Wani, who took 4 wickets for just 22 runs, helping Infra Business chase down the target in 8.4 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Wani was named Man of the Match.
In the second match, District Administration Samba XI posted a strong total of 180 runs, led by Aditya Sambyal’s 49 runs. Jal Shakti Warriors failed to chase the target, faltering against disciplined bowling by Shashi, who took 4 wickets and contributed 21 runs. Shashi was awarded Man of the Match.
The tournament now moves to the quarterfinals, with Chief Secretary XI facing District Administration Samba XI and Infra Business playing Shivya Ayurveda. The event is supported by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Directorate of Rural Sanitation-J&K.
