Symposium on ‘save girl child’ organized

JAMMU, Sept 7: As a part of Initiative taken up by the Government of India, a symposium on ‘save girl child’ was organized by the NRHM (J&K) at Presentation Convent Senior Secondary School, here today.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr Roma Wani, Chairperson, Inner Call Forum for Evolution, Development and Awareness, as the chief guest, while Dr Harjeet Rai, Divisional Nodal Officer, NRHM and Sr Ivette were the adjudicators of the event.
To encourage the participants, cash prize of Rs 2500 was presented to Bhavneet Kour for the first position and Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 for second and third positions, which were bagged by Mehula and Spandita respectively. Three consolation prizes of Rs 500 each for Manveen, Sargam and Anvi were also given by NRHM Jammu.
The event not only highlighted a socio- cultural evil that is deeply embedded in South-Asian countries but also aimed at changing the sensibilities of masses through the concern raised ‘by the Girl child for the Girl child’.
The chief guest Dr Roma Wani, extolled the students for their efforts and asked them to instill the self belief in themselves that every woman is special in her own sphere.
