Symposium on ‘Save the Girl Child’ held

KATHUA, Sept 21: Tehsil Information Centre Basohli today organised a symposium on ‘Save the Girl Child’ here at Government Middle School Jandrota.
Sarpanch Sman Panchayat, Devinder Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Headmistress Sunita Sharma and staff of the school were also present on the occasion.
Seven students took part in the symposium and highlighted importance of education of girls and their progress for overall betterment of the humanity.
They stressed on the need to change the mindset of the people towards girls and eradicate the social menace of female foeticide which has disturbed the balance of sex ratio to an alarming extent. The students projected the contribution of female gender in every sphere of society, competing equally with the male counterparts in present times.
Sarpanch Devinder Singh appreciated the Information Department for providing a platform to the students and called for organising more such programme in other schools of the area.
Deepika Kumari secured first position in the symposium, while second and third positions were bagged by Ahmed Nadeem & Vishu Verma, respectively.
Chief Guest gave away mementos to the position holders in the symposium.
Kuldeep Abrol of Information Department presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
