UDHAMPUR, Mar 20: A T-20 Cricket Tournament being organized by District Police commenced today at District Police Lines playground, here today.
The tournament was declared open by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, in presence of police officers and officials, locals and sports lovers.
While speaking, SSP said that main aim of tournament is to keep the young generation mentally and physically fit and to ensure that they stay away from the menace of drug addiction and other social evils.
He added that taking part in the sports activities is a healthy sign, which help the students to develop their personalities and mental ability.
In the tournament, 12 teams drawn from different clubs of the district are participating.
On the occasion, sports items including bats, balls, wickets were distributed among the players.
