JAMMU, Mar 24: The T10 Cricket Tournament for men was commenced today at Government Degree College (GDC) Bani as part of the Fit India Movement. Organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports in collaboration with the Bharat Rattan Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sports Club, Bani Kathua, the tournament features over 25 teams from rural areas.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Manohar Lal, Principal of GDC Bani, in the presence of faculty members. The chairman of the club, Sudesh Rajput, addressed the players, discussing the participating teams.
Dr. Lal emphasized the role of sports in youth development and recognized the efforts of Dr. J S Soodan, Physical Director, for organizing the event. He also praised the integration of Physical Education and Sports as part of the academic curriculum, as highlighted in NEP-2020.
The tournament will honour outstanding players in categories like Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Fielder and more. The match ended with Sports Club defeating Sports Club Banken by 8 wickets. Trophies were awarded to the winner and runner-up teams.
