LEH, Dec 28: The 2nd Table Tennis Championship, 2015, sponsored by PWD Contractors Association and Taru Enterprises, concluded at Indoor Stadium, here.
Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Leh, Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo was the chief guest on the occasion and Executive Councilor for Minority Affairs Mumtaz Hussain, and President PWD Contractors Association Tonyot Tashi were the guests of honour.
Congratulating the winners and encouraging the participants, CEC appreciated the Table Tennis Association District Leh for taking the initiative in this sport. Dr. Dawa assured that the infrastructural and other problems being faced by the players that were brought into CEC’s notice will be put forward for early redress.
Later, on the directions of CEC, Lower Leh Councilor P. Wangdan promised to provide the Table Tennis Association District Leh with two TT tables.
On the last day of the event, three tournaments between finalists of Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s and Under-17 was played in which, Siddarth Norboo in Senior Men’s category, Ishey Dolma in Senior Women’s category and Sujat Ali in Under-17 category were declared the winners.
CEC, EC Minority Affairs and Councilor Lower Leh gave away the trophies to the winners and runners-up players on the occasion.
Earlier, vice-president (A) Table Tennis Association District Leh P.T. Kunzang presented welcome address.
In the end, vice-president (B) TTA District Leh Thukstan Wangyal presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among other present on the occasion were Councilor Lower Leh P. Wangdan, Executive Engineer R&B Leh Gyatso, Executive Engineer PHE Wangyal Phuntsog, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Abdul Rashid and president Anjuman Immamia Ashraf Ali Barcha.
