JAMMU, June 28: Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association (JKTA) held selection trials for the 40th Junior National Kyorugi and 13th Junior National Poomsae Taekwondo Championships at MA Stadium, here, today.
The selection was purely open for all potential athletes of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT) and selected players will represent team J&K at 40th Junior National Kyorugi and 13th Junior National Poomsae Taekwondo Championships schedule to be held at Shivamogga, Karnataka. Around 31 players from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir participated in selection trials.
Atul Pangotra (NIS qualified Coach) was appointed as incharge by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) for the selection trials in order for a fair selection and the whole event took place at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium Jammu.
Krupali Singh (Arjun Awardee and Senior Gymnastics Coach) was appointed as observer by J&K Sports Council and the selection committee was formed by J&K Taekwondo Association which was headed by Atul Pangotra, Convenor, Burhan-ud-Din Khan (National Referee) Member, Rajinder Singh (National Referee) Member, Kushagra Sharma (International Player) Member and Achutam Dev Singh (International Player) Member.
President, Rajesh Pangotra and General Secretary, Ramesh Chander Sharma applauded the selected players and Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull for supporting J&K Taekwondo Association by providing all the facilities.
The players who were selected in different weight categories for the national Taekwondo Championships are Junior Boys under 45 kg categories Soham Sharma, Jammu. Junior boys under 48 Kg, Danish Bhagat, Jammu, Junior Boys under 51 kilograms weight category, Akarshit Sudan, Poonch. Junior boys under 55 kilograms, Kashif Iqbal, Doda, Junior boys under 59 kilograms, Azad Ahmed Beigh, Budgam, Junior boys under 63 kg, Vishvas Sudan Poonch, Junior boys under 68 kg, Musadiq Qayoom, Srinagar, Junior boys under 73kg, Suryansh Victor Sharma, Jammu, Junior boys under 78 kg, Aryan Singh Chib, Jammu, Junior boys over 78 kg, Sharwan Kotwal Reasi, Junior girls under 42 kg, Laxmi Salaria, Jammu, Junior girls under 44 kg, Khadija-ul- Qubra, Doda, Junior girls under 46 kg, Khalida Jabeen, Poonch, Junior girls under 49 kg, Radha Sharma, Doda, Junior girls under 52 kg, Manpreet Kour, Poonch, Junior girls under 55kg, Sania Mumtaz, Doda, Junior girls under 59 kg, Madhavi Chib, Jammu, Junior individual male Poomsae, Soham Sharma, Jammu, Junior individual female Poomsae, Supriya Dogra, Jammu, Junior pair Poomsae vo, Bhavya Rajput, Saksham Sharma, Junior boys team Poomsae, Soham Sharma, Moomin Malik, Tahir Mushtaq, junior girls team Poomsae, Laxmi Salaria, Khadija-ul-Qubra and Sadaf Rehman.
The special coaching camp for all the selected players was also started from tomorrow by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council under the coaching of Atul Pangotra Taekwondo Coach.
