Taj announces Sports Academy, Youth Hostel

BANDIPORE, May 25: The football meet organized here by Hashmi Sports Club, Bandipora in association with District Football Association, Bandipora concluded this evening.
Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest on the occasion.
The final match of the tournament was played between the teams of Hashmi Sports Club, Bandipora and Hamdan Sports, Srinagar which was won by Hashmi Sports by 2:1.
In all, 16 football teams of the Valley participated in the tournament out of which Hamdan Sports, Srinagar, Hashmi Sports, Bandipore, Iqbal Sports, Bandipora and WC Baramulla had qualified for the semi finals.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Government intends to raise and further strengthen sports infrastructure at district levels to facilitate more and more sports interactions. He said every block would be provided with a stadium and wherever land is available football and hockey grounds would be raised elsewhere.
The Minister announced that a Sports Academy would be set up at Bandipora to train and coach budding players. He said a youth hostel would also be constructed to facilitate board and lodge of players coming to play in the district.
Mr. Taj said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of strengthening sports infrastructure in the State under which all the completed stadia would be provided sports kits and equipment. Besides, he said the coaching of players would be further improved.
Later, the Minister distributes prizes among the players.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipore, M Y Zargar, former Minister, Usman Majeed, former legislator, G R Naaz, officers of district administration besides hundreds of football lovers were present on the occasion.
