Taj declares 20th National TT C’ship open

SRINAGAR, Apr 16: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-din reiterated that Government is committed for upliftment of sports sector besides has already initiated various measures for upgradation of sports infrastructure in the State.
This was stated by the Minister while inaugurating 20th National Table Tennis Championship at Indore Sports Stadium complex, here today.
Taj said that youth of State have vast potential for sports activities and they have proved their mantle at national and international sports events. He said there is need to explore their talent and provide platform for the display of their capability besides upgrading the sports infrastructure on modern trends.
Minister exhorted upon the participantsd to act as ambassadors of Kashmir and spread the message that Kashmir is ideal place for national and international sports events.
Taj Said that concrete steps were being taken for the renovation and upgradation of Indore Stadium complex, so that better sports atmosphere is created and large participation of players is ensured besides mega sports events be organized.
The Championship has been organized by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with Table Tennis Federation of India and Indian Veteran Table Tennis Association. The event will continue till April 20 and about one thousand players from all States of the country will participate in the championship.
Among others present were Joint Secretary, Union Ministry of Industries and Commerce, Sudhanshu Pandey, Vice President, JKTTA, General Secretary, JKTTA, large number of students and sports lovers.
