BARAMULLA, Sept 26: The 10th North Kashmir Police Sports Festival took off today with a colorful start. Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din inaugurated the festival.
The month long sports festival would have participants from all the districts of North Kashmir in different sports disciplines.
Addressing the inaugural function, Mr. Taj said the Government intends to upgrade and equip sports infrastructure in the State, adding Government has devised an action plan under which the sports infrastructure in the State would be strengthened and upgraded.
Mr Taj said that sports infrastructure is being strengthened in the State and in this connection recently foundation for a Rs. 18 crore sports complex was laid in the Baramulla and an Astroturf is being laid at Azad Gunj.
MLA, Rafiabad, Javid Ahmad Dar, former Minister, Usman Majid, DIG, North, J P Singh, S P Baramulla, Zubair Khan, senior Army officers, prominent citizens and officers of District Administration were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Minister visited the historic Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School at Baramulla and presided over the annual sport cum cultural event.
