Tak asks GREF to implement labour welfare measures

KISHTWAR, Nov 11: Mem-ber Legislative Council (MLC) Firdous Tak today said that the State Government was committed to protecting the rights of labour class, which is the backbone of economy.
Addressing a large number of labourers here, he said that the development and progress of any area is dependent on the hard work of labour class. “The best resources these hills of Chenab Valley have are its work force. Our people come down on the roads to work after walking hours on foot and go back in the evening. No other place has such a hardworking and dedicated workforce”, he said.
He said that the present dispensation headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was committed to safeguard the rights of working class. “The PDP in particular has always fought for the welfare of labour class and now being in power our we are working to implement people friendly policies”, he said.
He reminded the gathering about several social welfare schemes including Ladli Beti, ASRA, Marriage Assistance, scholarship and others launched by the Government for welfare of downtrodden people of the State.
He said that Minister for Finance and Labour Dr Haseeb Drabu has been bringing reforms in the construction area and crores of rupees have been released for the welfare of registered construction workers. He asked the GREF executing work on Kishtwar-Padder road, to strictly implement labour laws and welfare schemes on the ground.
