SRINAGAR, May 24: The Mass Trekking-cum-Awareness programme of Jammu and Kashmir Ski and Mountaineering Association (JKSMA) was flagged off here by chief guest, Talat Parvez, Director Tourism, who was flanked by eminent earth trekkers and explorers including Mahmood Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yusuf and Rauf Tramboo, here.
The TAAK president, Peerzada Fayaz, Riyaz Wani and Ahsan Ali of Mountain Running Association were also present.
More than 300 boys and girls representing Model High School Jawahar Nagar, Legends School, Kashmir Harvard, Modern Era Secondary School, Scholars School and Sane Kids School took part in this mega adventure event of year.
Mr Talat suggested that more such activities should be organized in the city as well as in rural areas to develop strength and imagination among the children.
All the participating schools were awarded a memento of appreciation, while Tabinda of Model School was adjudged by best and youngest trekker and was award the trophy.
The Chief Guest Talat Parvez and guest of honour Mahmood Ahmad Shah were also presented the Award of honour on the occasion. The JKSMA expressed its gratitude to Tourism Department, JK Mountaineering Club, different schools, Islamia College, Mountain Running Association and some other adventure related organizations for extending their support to make the endeavor a grand success.
