JAMMU, Oct 13: Tanima Dutta, student of Govt SPMR, Commerce College, Canal Road, Jammu secured first position in the Inter-Colleges / Hr Sec Schools symposium on the topic “Civil Defence & Mitigation of Disaster” held in the premises of Govt. College for Women, Parade, Jammu.
The 2nd position was bagged by Sonia Sharma of Govt Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu while Kiran Devi, Govt Women College, Parade Jammu claimed third position.
The symposium was organized by Civil Defence organization Jammu. Deputy Commissioner-cum-Controller Civil Defence Jammu, Sh. Sanjeev Verma, IAS was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Principal of College Dr. Hemla Aggarwal welcome to chief guest on her address.
Gh Sarwar Chouhan, SSP, Commandant SDRF, 2nd Bn, Jammu was guest of honour on this occasion.
Appreciating the role of Civil Defence Jammu, the chief guest highlighted the role of Wardens for their Volunteers services in helping the people during any type of disasters. He advised the students to ensure maximum involvement in the Civil Defence activities.
Dushyant Sharma was also present on the occasion, who said that CD Organization has been designed to educate the masses about various issues like Earthquakes, Floods, Fire Fighting, First Aid etc, so that they can prove helpful in managing the situation effectively.
Vikas Gupta, (SP) Chairman of Jury committee, Vinod Malhotra, Paramjit Kumar Dy Chief wardens, Dr Rajinder Thapa and Vijay Magotra, Dy Divisional wardens acted as judges.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jugal Mahajan, Chief Warden CD Town, Jammu, Santosh Magotra, Division Warden, CD Town Jammu
Alok Nanda, Dy.Divisional Warden, CD Town, Jammu, Bimal Gupta, Post Warden, Jia Lal Sharma, Divisional Warden, CD Town, Jammu and Madam Ashu Manhas & Madam Sonia Khajuria alongwith college studens Surbhi Sharma & Gouri Verma compared the function.
