JAMMU, May 2: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has agreed to call a meeting on the problems of the border people in Jammu region.
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde gave an assurance to this effect to Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who called on him at New Delhi today.
Tara Chand demanded special recruitment drive for the people of border areas in para-military forces, de-mining of the border areas and till then increase in rent of the areas mined by the troops and solution to other problems faced by the people of border areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister also discussed security, development and political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir with Mr Shinde.
Tara Chand urged Mr Shinde to himself visit Jammu and Kashmir including the border areas to review the situation in the State.
He said the Union Home Minister has accepted his proposal to visit J&K to discuss the problems faced by the people of the State.
