JAMMU, Oct 15: In order to encourage sport climbers and to boost sport climbing in Jammu and Kashmir, Tawi Trekkers J&K, the pioneer trekking club of J&K has announced cash prizes for J&K sport climbers, who win medals in the National Sport Climbing Competition scheduled to be held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation from November 27 to November 30, 2015.
The gold medal winners in any category of the national competition will get a cash prize of Rs.10,000, while the silver and bronze medalists will be awarded Rs.7,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively.
Since three climbers of J&K have been selected to represent North Zone in all the three types of competitions in the national competition, any climber winning three gold medals shall be entitled to a special cash prize of Rs.35,000 whereas the winner of two gold medals shall also get a handsome cash prize of Rs.25,000.
“All the climbers of J&K irrespective of their club affiliations shall be eligible for the awards,” announced Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary of the Club.
