Tawi Trekkers hold pilgrimage, heritage track for women

REASI, Mar 17: Continuing its series of one day treks for promotion of pilgrimage and heritage sites Tawi Trekkers J&K organized the 2nd one-day trek to Devi Pindian near Panthal (Katra) here today.
The group of 143 Women trekkers exclusively from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu was flagged off from Kala Kendra, Jammu by Patron of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Rahul Sharma.
General Secretary of the Club Sonam Sidharth, senior members Shashi Kant Sharma, Sourav Deep Singh and Ananjan Raghav along with sports secretary of the College Ishika Jandial also accompanied the trekkers for better coordination during the trek.
The budding trekkers were pleasantly surprised when Superintendent of Police, Katra Vipin Chandran alongwith SDPO, Bhavan Satyakam Sharma welcomed them on their arrival at Kunia Nursery, Panthal.
The officer said that trekking inculcates in a person a spirit of adventure and love of nature besides keeping mentally and physically fit. He emphasized on the importance of mountains and the role they play in our life and advised the participants to keep the mountains clean whenever they go for trekking.
Most of the students on their maiden trek were enchanted by the beauty of the serene trekking destination and fully enjoyed the 10 km to and fro trek amidst the pines and along a stream of gushing transparent water. Reaching the Devi Pindian shrine the trekkers were overwhelmed by the sublime atmosphere and serenity of the place.
