JAMMU, Apr 7: On achieving resounding success in the ongoing 1-Day Devi Pindian Trekking Programme in which 500 students mostly girls participated within a month, Tawi Trekkers J&K, felicitated the group leaders and teachers in a programme here today.
Ashwani Sharma, former MLA and Patron of the club honoured the awardees with appreciation certificates, sacred Chunni, a bouquet and also presented participation certificates in the presence of Patron Rahul Sharma, Advisors Prof. Lalit Magotra and Ram Khajuria, President Shawetica Khajuria and General Secretary Sonam Sidharth.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Vivek Chauhan, Patron; Rakesh Goswami, President of District Mountaineering Association, Jammu; Mridhu Padha, Vice President and senior members of Tawi Trekkers including Navneet Gupta, Sunil Chakharia, Amit Khajuria, Anu Sharma and Prerna Charak.
Ashpreet Kour Sudan, President; Sanjeevani Vice President, Ishika Jandiyal, Sports Secretary and Saloni Kumari of PS Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu were honoured by the dignitaries. The other awardees included three teachers of St Xavier Sr. Secondary School, Barnai Meenu Badam, Meenakshi Verma and Anita Kumari and three students of PS Govt College for Women Gandhi Nagar Diya Chib, Mehak Sharma and Ambika Kesar.
Ashwani Sharma recalled his 25 years association with the club and said that it is because of the unwavering dedication, devotion to duty and selfless spirit of its members that the club has been doing a great service to the nation for the last 41 years. He advised the young leaders of the club to motivate more and more youth to participate in the forthcoming Dharamshala, Mcleodganj Himalayan Trekking Programme to make Tawi Trekkers J&K the number one trekking club in the country.
