Tawi Trekkers organizes 12-day specialized camp for climbers

JAMMU, Oct 14: In order to assist Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) to achieve its goal of winning medals in the forthcoming National Sport Climbing Championship, Tawi Trekkers, J&K, today started a 12-day specialized coaching camp for five J&K climbers.
These five climbers namely Shivani Charak, Mrityunjay Sharma, Palavi Sharma, Shilpa Charak and Hardev Singh, have been selected in the North Zone Sport Climbing team for participation in the forthcoming 20th National Championship due to be held at Kolkata from December 4 to 7,2014.
The camp would be organized at the 40 ft high fiber glass climbing wall in Sprawling Buds School complex at Chinore, Jammu under the supervision of Anil Kumar, a senior climber of the State.
General Secretary, Tawi Trekkers, Shawetica Khajuria, who is a national judge in sport climbing, inaugurated the camp in the presence of Rajesh Gupta, vice-president and Sonam Sidharth, joint secretary of Tawi Trekkers and Ram Khajuria, general secretary of MAJK.
Shawetica assured the selected climbers that Tawi Trekkers would fully support them as far as training facilities are concerned. If required, Tawi Trekkers would sponsor another coaching camp of a suitable duration next month also, she added.
