JAMMU, Dec 8: Highlighting the role of education in creating a progressed and harmonious society, Minister for Medical Education, Youth Service and Sports, R. S. Chib, exhorted upon the teachers and parents to have better coordination for a bright tomorrow for the students.
The Minister was speaking at the Annual Day function of Arvind Ghosh Higher Secondary School, Vijaypur here today.
The Minister stressed upon the teachers to impart quality education to the students with focus on inculcating moral education among them which is the need of the hour. He enjoined upon the students to take keen interest in both curricular and co-curricular activities preparing themselves to face future challenges.
Chib said that the present government has taken various steps to develop infrastructure in education sector, besides encouraging private sector which is playing significant role in promoting quality education.
Throwing light on the life and works of Arvind Ghosh, the Minister asked the students to follow his footsteps and live a simple life. He said teachings of such great personalities greatly help in inspiring the young generation towards a better life.
The Minister applauded the teachers and school management for further upgrading the education standards. He also appreciated the students for their performances presented during the programme.
Earlier, Principal, S. Gurdeep Singh, presented the annual report of the school highlighting the achievements of the students in curricular and co-curricular activities.
Meanwhile, the students presented colourful cultural programme. A presentation by the tiny-toddlers on environment was highly applauded by the audiences.
Later, the Minister gave away trophies and mementoes to the students who have excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Samba M. Mubarak Singh, Former Minister, S Manjit Singh, students and parents were present on the occasion.
