JAMMU, Aug 10: Up in arms against alleged pick and choose in the recent transfers of Master, members of teaching community held a  protest demonstration in front of the Directorate of School Education Jammu, here today.
Raising slogans against the Director School Education, the protesting teachers staged a dharna on the ever busy road in front of the Directorate and also disrupted vehicular movement for some timer.
The protest was organized under the banner of All Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Teachers Federation and  it continued  for more than three  hours till Joint Director School Education personally reached the spot on the direction of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, and pacified the agitating teachers.
The trouble erupted this afternoon when these  teachers, who claimed that they were  given time by the Director, Smita Sethi for listening to their grievances, did not find the officer in her office chamber.
The absence of Director further  irked the already annoyed teachers who started holding a demonstration amidst raising of slogans against  violation of the much talked about Transfer Policy and alleged pick and choose in recent transfers of Masters.
While addressing the gathering, the Federation leaders Maheshwar Prasad and Satish Dutta alleged favourtism, nepotism and corruption in the Directorate of School Education where  two teachers  were engaged as clerks and assigned the most significant job of preparing transfer lists. They even listed the particular  cases, wherein the  Transfer Policy was violated for the reasons best known to the persons at the helm of affairs.
The protesting teachers urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Education Minister Naeem Akhtar to personally look into the matter and order a probe into the transfers affected in the Directorate of School Education during the last few months.
Before dispersing off, the members of Teacher Federation announced to continue their struggle till a probe is ordered in the recent transfers.
