JAMMU, Sept 20: Up in arms against alleged pick and choose adopted in recent transfers of Teachers, Masters and Lecturers, members of Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum today held a protest demonstration in front of the Directorate of School Education Jammu.
A number of teachers from various districts of Jammu province took part in the protest demonstration, which was held under the leadership of Ganesh Khajuria, State general secretary of the Forum.
The teachers raised slogans against the Education authorities for alleged pick and choose policy in the transfers and demanded immediate shifting of two teachers, who have been managing all affairs of the Directorate.
While addressing the gathering, Ganesh Khajuria alleged transfers within zero kilometer in the Jammu City and in even in the same premises of the educational institutions in some cases. “Two teachers have been engaged for managing all affairs of the Directorate thus resulting into complete mess and mismanagement in transfer matters without taking care of the genuine grievances of the teaching community,” he said and added that teaching community was befooled in the name of transfer melas.
The JKTF leaders asked the Education authorities to desist from the policies which are detrimental for the Education Department in general and teaching fraternity in particular. The Forum warned the authorities to make the transfers/modifications strictly as per the transfer policy taking into care the genuine cases of modifications as assured and committed by the Director School Education Jammu within two days otherwise the Forum shall launch a decisive struggle for which the programme shall be announced soon.
The Forum also appealed the Education Minister Naeem Akhter to personally intervene into this matter keeping in view the gravity of the situation and deteriorating working of the Directorate to do the justice with the aggrieved teaching fraternity.
