Teachers of KGBV scheme stage protests, demand regularization

SRINAGAR, Nov 17:Scores of female teachers who were appointed under Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme today staged peaceful protest against for its failure to regularize them on time.
Working under Centrally sponsored KGBV scheme in Rural areas since 2004 to increase the girl child literacy rate, more than 700 female teachers were appointed in 99 KGBV centers across Jammu and Kashmir, but only some 14 teachers were regularized so for.
Mymona Khan, a female teacher working under the same scheme from 2006 said that she was appointed on merit basis in her education zone on Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) pattern with monthly honorarium of Rs 1500.
She said, “we have been approaching to the higher authorities for our regularization from last one year and have also submitted all documents at direction office, but there is no response from them.”
Khan said that they have been working in residential schools at upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly SC, ST, OBC and minority communities.
The teachers appealed the concerned higher authorities to look into the matter sincerely and solve their long pending demand. “We appeal concerned higher authorities to clear out files at direction office as soon as possible,” the teachers demanded.
