JAMMU, May 25: Stating that recent crackdown in Rajouri district, where more than two dozen drug peddlers were arrested and lodged in the jail, was just a tip of ice berg, Chairman of the Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal today said that a well-knit mafia has been operating in the State and there is need to formulate a comprehensive policy to dismantle this influential mafia.

“This is Narco-terrorism and the enemy country with the connivance of anti-national forces is helping this mafia to flourish in J&K so as to spoil younger generation as well as nationalist forces here,” he said today while addressing a press conference along with other members of Team Jammu.
Zorawar appealed all political parties of the State to evolve a consensus for taking effective steps to eradicate this menace so as to liberate the younger generation from death trap. “All parties are duty-bound to evolve a mechanism to deal with menace because State is virtually slipping into the tight grip of drug mafia, parents are helplessly watching their teenage children dying slow deaths due to failure of the authorities to crack down on mafia well connected with politicians and cops,” he said.
Regretting that political parties did not fulfill their commitment with Team Jammu for holding a debate in last Budget Session of the State Assembly, Zorawar again appealed all the parties to bring a resolution in forthcoming Autumn session of the Assembly at Srinagar in the month of July so that after a debate, consensus could be evolved to book drug mafia with sedition charges.
“On one hand terrorism is playing with the lives of the common masses while on the other hand it is drug mafia which is spoiling youth of the State”, Zorawar pointed out and stressed that those involved in supplying drugs to youth must be booked under sedition charges to send a strong message. “Spoiling youth of the State is an act against nation and our coming generations will not forgive us if we fail to take step to stop this menace at this point of time”, he said and asserted that Team Jammu has already launched a war against drug addiction and drug mafia to liberate younger generation from the yoke of this menace.
