Teenage brothers washed away

JAMMU, Aug 24: Two teenage brothers were today washed away in flash floods in river Tawi here while another youth rescued himself.
According to SHO, police station Bagh-e-Bahu, Inspector Vijay Choudhary, two brothers identified as Surya Partap (a class 12th student) and Adarsh Partap (a class 10th student), sons of a BSF personnel and one of their friends namely Rajan Kumar (working in a private company) son of Vinod Kumar, a Head Constable in BSF, had come at Har ki Pouri here to celebrate the birthday of Surya Partap, at about 11.30 am today.
He said that after paying obeisance at Har ki Pouri Temple when they were taking a dip in the River Tawi, they were washed away due to sudden floods owing to rains in catchment area. “Though one of them namely Rajan was lucky enough to save himself from the flood after getting washed away to some distance, the two brothers were washed away”.
The officer said a search operation by SDRF personnel, police and local people was launched immediately but the two could not be traced out till late evening and due to darkness, the search operation had to be suspended.
“We have informed all the police stations like Nowabad, Gandhi Nagar, Satwari from whose jurisdiction the River Tawi passes, about the washing away of the two teenagers”, he added.
He informed that the three friends were presently living with their mothers at BSF Quarters at Paloura, as their fathers are posted at New Delhi.
