JAMMU, July 4: Crime Branch today booked four people including Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar for allegedly forging the revenue records and fraudulently allotting the evacuee property land to a fictitious person.
A spokesman of the Crime Branch said that, a written complaint was lodged by the Custodian, Evacuee Property, Jammu with the Crime Branch, alleging that Evacuee Property land measuring 18 kanal 18 marlas situated at Nanak Chak village, district Samba, has been illegally allotted to a displaced person namely Prithi Singh, son of Foor Singh of Wattal, Bimber, PoK to make the deficiency good in his allotment by Tehsildar Samba (Asstt Custodian) and Naib Tehsildar, Samba in violation of a Government circular.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, an inquiry was initiated and it was found that the person identified as Prithi, a 1947 refugee, was a non-existent person in whose favour land was allotted in 1991 by the then Tehsildar, he added.
From the facts, it came to the light that the evacuee property land in question has been usurped by those accused in connivance with the officials of the Revenue Department, who forged the records for pecuniary benefits in order to cause loss to the Custodian Department and gain to the accused, he said.
After investigation, a case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC in reference with Section 5(2) of Prevention under Corruption Act Svt 2006 has been registered against Ajit Singh Jasrotia, the then Tehsildar (Assistant Custodian) Samba, Sat Pal Sharma the then Naib Tehsildar, Samba, Satish Sharma, son of Gori Shanker, resident of Samba, Raj Kumar, son of Swaran Singh of Greater Kailash, for allegedly fabricating the revenue records.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
