Termination of contractual employees irrational, anti-people: Ex-Minister

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 18 Launching a scathing attack at the newly formed PDP-BJP coalition Government for its proposed termination of services of the re-employed employees, former MoS Finance and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma termed the decision as anti-people.
The former Congress Minister said that the step taken by Mufti Government has come like a bolt from the blue which has pushed this lot towards the brink of starvation. He also apprehended that the mass termination of the employees can lead to unrest among the ousted employees and the Government has to face the dire consequences in the near future.
“The Government instead of en-mass termination of contractual, casual employees should have adopted a procedure to regularize the sole bread earners of the family as well as the deserving candidates by proper screening and rejected the undeserving ones”, Sharma suggested.
He added that thousands of contractual/daily wagers/need basis employees appointed by the previous Government will become jobless and add to the already rising graph of unemployment in the State. Government should reconsider this decision in the interest of general public as with the implementation of this policy, there will be more unemployed frustrated youth in the State.
Mr Sharma said that BJP leadership in Center as well as State has nothing to show people on developmental fronts after attaining power and hence it is trying to erase the policies of UPA Government to set agendas of some hardcore organizations actually ruling BJP. “BJP leadership has cheated the youth of Jammu and Kashmir as numbers of promises regarding generation of employment avenues for the majority unemployed population were made during parliamentary as well as Legislative Assembly polls but the ground reality is not hidden from anyone”, he added.
He warned that if this irrational decision is not reconsidered, Congress will launch mass agitations in nearing future in favour with massive support of the ousted employees and Government should be ready to face the consequences.
