JAMMU, July 19: Terminetters, comprising of Vasu Dewan (Captain), Shorys Sharma, Maanay Mansotra & Ankit Sharma marked a solid start and began their campaign in style by defeating Spin Twins by 3-0.
In the first match Shorya Sharma defeated Anuj Gupta by 3-0, Vasu Dewan thrashed Ratnish Puri by 3-0 and Maanay Mansotra trounced Aviral Singh by 3-2.
Another team which made a clean sweep was Singh Warriors, defeating Morning Warriors by 3-0 in which Maninder Singh bt Shivanshu Manhas by 3-2, Dr Prabhjot beat JR Kalsi 3-0 and Saksham Verma outplayed Mahesh Sharma 3-1.
Despite some good efforts from Mahesh Sharma and Shivanshu Manhas, Morning Warriors failed to get past Evergreen Jammuites in their next match before going down by 3-2.
Ritvik Gupta helped Top Spinners bat Jammu Warriors by 3-1. Ritvik won both his matches while Faisal Mir defeated Sandeep Khadotra 3-2 to give Top Spinners their first win of the tournament.
Results (Day 1)
Terminetters got the better of Spin Twins 3-0, Singh Warriors prevailed over Morning Warriors 3-0, Top Spinners defeated Jammu Warriors 3-1 and Evergreen Jammuites beat Morning Warriors 3-2.
The first day matches were witnessed by Shallu Nanda (Former International Football player), who encouraged the participants to give their best and play in the right spirit of the game.
The matches were played under the supervision of Ajay Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Table Tennis Association, Satish Gupta (Manager Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium), Suresh Sharma (NIS Coach) and Meenu Rajesh.
