JAMMU, Aug 10: Terriers team emerged winner in men category, while Warriors scripted win over Defending Champion in women’s final of the Basketball Championship, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in connection with Independence Day Sports Week, concluded at Shastri Nagar Basketball Ground, here today.
Ashok Sharma, Deputy Director STC Jammu was the chief guest of the final matches.
In the women’s category, Chitreshi was declared as top scorer of the winning team as she secured 25 points, while Kiran bagged 13 points and Rinki of the runner-up team clinched 12 points during the tournament.
In the men’s match, the match between Warriors and Terriers teams remained tie as both the teams secured 88-88 points each, followed by extra time allotted for deciding winner of the final match wherein Terriers defeated Warriors. Abhinav of the winning team secured 27 points whereas Ranbir Singh from the runner-up team clinched 48 points.
The matches were officiated by Manoj Solanki, Aman Singh, Gourav Rajwal and Ranbir Singh.
Shaktish Chopra, Manager MA Stadium; Amarjit Singh (Retd SAI Basketball coach); Sushma Jamwal, Dalbir Mehta, Harjinder Singh and many others were present during the event.
