JAMMU, Feb 5: AGM of the NBCC, Mohd Rafique today briefed the Commissioner of Income Tax, A K Thatai about the progress made in the construction of Income Tax Colony at Resham Ghar when the later visited the site.
The Commissioner of Income Tax expressed satisfaction over the pace with which the construction work was going on and once again issued directions for handing over the colony for occupation by the senior and middle range officers of the Income Tax Department.
The NBCC assured to hand over the colony to the department latest by November 2014. The IT Commissioner exhorted NBCC to complete the work speedily and meet the target positively. The day to day plan and schedule of construction was also discussed with the Commissioner of Income Tax by the AGM, NBCC.
It may be mentioned that the Commissioner of Income Tax is taking keen interest in the construction of Income Tax Department’s own colony so that the officers who are posted at Jammu may get Government accommodation at a very convenient area within their entitlement of house rent allowance which otherwise is becoming difficult in this developing city.
The spokesperson of the Income Tax Department said that the planning work for construction of Income Tax Colony at Silk factory Road, Srinagar was almost finalised and construction is likely to start before the end of current financial year after the approval from the Union Ministry of Finance.
Rakesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range Jammu and Srinagar, Mini Chandran U, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Hqrs), C P Sharma and Deepak Sharma from the office of the Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu were also present.
