Theft case solved as accused held with stolen items worth lakhs

JAMMU, July 6: Police claimed to have solved a theft case registered here with the arrest of an accused. The stolen items worth Rs 1.2 lakhs have also been recovered.
A police spokesperson said that information was received at Gandhi Nagar Police Station regarding a theft in the area.
On this, he said, an FIR number 164/2023 under Sections 457/380 of the IPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, he said that special teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma assisted by SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Pankaj Sharma, with the help of CCTV footages rounded up a suspect identified as Sharan Sharma alias Sunny of Rajouri.
During questioning, the suspected person confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, stolen gold items worth Rs 1.2 lakh were recovered, said the police spokesperson.
Further investigation is on, he said.
The overall arrest and recovery was made under the supervision of SP South Shaheen Wahid.
