LEH, Aug 18: Thousands of devotees thronged Shey Jevestal to attend teaching session of Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama here today.
The four days teaching session is being organized by Ladakh Buddhist Association Leh in collaboration with various volunteers/ organizations.
While expressing about the benefits of Bodhicitta, Dalai Lama said the spirit of awakening motivates the Bodhisattva way of life and explain the means of cultivating and sustaining this altruistic aspiration. Those topics lay the foundation of the perfection of generosity. The spirit of awakening is known to be of two kinds: the spirit of aspiring for awakening, and the spirit of venturing toward awakening.
“Every sentient being needs happiness including animal therefore, respecting others & understanding their problems create happiness”. Every prayer does not depend upon faith, prayer has to be understood properly and we should have a clear our mind & spirit to attain teachings.
Mentioning about cause of suffering the Buddhist spiritual head said that those desiring to escape from suffering hasten right toward suffering. He satisfies with all joys those who are starving for happiness and eliminates all the sorrows of those who are afflicted in many ways.
As a part of the programme monks and scholars from various Monasteries participated in dharma debate “Tsannit” competitions.
