Three CRPF officials get Gallantry Medals for exemplary services

JAMMU, Aug 17: Three officials of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) got Gallantry medals for their exemplary services in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amongst the paramilitary forces, CRPF continues to bag the lion’s share once again and has been decorated with 44 gallantry medals, one of them President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and forty three Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), for their exceptional deeds of valour in the various operational theatres.
PPMG has been awarded to Inspector Gulam Nabi Bhat of 23 Battalion, who displayed conspicuous gallantry and utmost devotion to duty while eliminating two militants who were holed up in a house and taken the inmates hostage in Soura area of Srinagar on April 13.
Out of 44 medals, 41 medals have been awarded to the officers and men for displaying conspicuous valour in the naxal theatre, whereas Jammu and Kashmir has accounted for three.
Besides the gallantry medals, five officers of the force were awarded with Presidents Police Medal for distinguished service and 58 officers and men of the force were decorated with Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day.
Ranbir Singh, then Commandant 38 Bn, now superannuated, Sunil Kumar Mishra, Commandant 6 Bn, Swarn Singh, Second-In-Command, Jammu Sector, Mukesh Tyagi, Second-in-Command, Range Hiranagar and Inspector Balbir Singh, 84 Bn are among the medal recipients from CRPF Jammu Sector.
Swarn Singh, Second-in-Command, presently posted at CRPF Jammu Sector Headquarters in his flawless 30 years service remained deployed in J&K, North-Eastern States, Chhatisgarh, Punjab and participated in various operations against insurgents, naxals and militants. He was earlier been awarded with CRPF DGs and commendation certificates.
Mukesh Tyagi, Second-in-Command has also served in J&K, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Utter Pradesh and Jharkhand. Both the officers have also been awarded with DG Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2014 for their conspicuous role in safe conduct of General Parliamentary and State Assembly elections.
Sunil Kumar Mishra has recently joined CRPF Unit in Katra, District Reasi and has also been conferred with Police medal for meritorious service.
